Tourist farm »Pri Andrejevih« in the village of Narin, near Pivka, is offering bear friendly apple juice, fruit spread and honey. They grow vegetables, cereal, fruit and herbs – 80% of the foodstuff they offer is organically produced. To prevent bear damages, they have protected orchards and beehives with electric fence.
We have visited the farm last week, to deliver business cards developed for our bear-friendly ambassadors. The farm is the perfect spot for nature enthusiasts – surrounded by woods and meadows inside the bear area, it is also part of the Natura 2000 protected areas and Seasonal Lakes of Pivka Regional Park. Bears are generally shy and tend to avoid people, however it is important for the farm guests to understand bear behaviour while strolling among the mighty woods surrounding the farm. Therefore we have also delivered additional leaflets produced in the frame of LIFE DINALP BEAR project, that offer detailed recommendations on how to behave adequately in bear areas.
